Hey, it’s Dr. Scott from Skin Suite Medical Aesthetics, and I really wanted to talk about some of the concerns that I’ve noted people have when they start to foray into the aesthetic world, specifically when it comes to Botox. We’ve been using toxins or Botox for quite some time. We use it therapeutically. We use it for cerebral palsy patients. We use it for spasticity, status post-stroke. We use it for a lot of different things. It came into the aesthetic world, I guess, more in modern medical times, but it’s not a new substance. And all we’re doing is we’re using this substance to cause the muscles to not move, hence why you don’t have wrinkles.

I think people also get concerned because they’re thinking, “Okay, I’m putting a foreign substance in my face or in my body, and I don’t know the long-term consequences.” So the number one concern I hear outside of that is that they’re going to look frozen, and I know exactly what they’re thinking of. I actually have a particular celebrity in mind when they say they are scared they’re going to be frozen. And I think what they mean is that they essentially are not going to be able to move their face and have any facial movement. They’re going to look like a doll, right? Like if they’re laughing, they’re just going to look very scary because their face isn’t moving naturally.
And that isn’t the case. You’re still going to be able to smile, right? Like I can still smile. You just won’t see the lines from smiling. You’re still going to be able to move your forehead and furrow your brows, but you’re not going to make those movements as fluidly as you did before Botox. And that’s the point, right? Because if you keep making this angry bird face, you’re going to get lines in the middle of your eyebrows called 11s. And that’s usually when people come to me saying, “I don’t want the 11s, please get rid of them,” right? So yeah, you’re going to have reduced muscle movement because we’re paralyzing the muscle with the toxin Botox, right? But it’s not going to make you look frozen. You will still have the ability to move your face. So if you have questions or would like to speak about this further, feel free to reach out to us at Skin Suite Med Spa! I love to educate, and I cannot wait to speak with you more about this. Take care. Bye.
