Composed of substances like hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin, dermal fillers provide immediate results by filling in lines and adding volume to areas such as the lips, cheeks, and under the eyes. Safe and minimally invasive, dermal fillers are a popular choice for those seeking to rejuvenate their appearance without surgery. Results can last from several months to a couple of years, depending on the type of filler used and the area treated.

The duration of the results of injections may vary, but typically last from 6 to 18 months depending on the treated area. Injections in the lips tend to last for a shorter period than those in the nasolabial folds. The longevity of the effects of your injections depends on the product used, the area of treatment, and the individual patient. Some hyaluronic fillers, such as Voluma, are designed to last longer but are limited to use in the cheeks.

Results from filler injections are typically visible immediately after the procedure. You may notice an instant improvement in volume and a reduction in lines and wrinkles in the treated areas. However, it's common to experience some swelling or bruising initially, which can temporarily obscure the final outcome. The true results will become more apparent once any swelling subsides, usually within a few days to a week after the treatment. For some types of fillers or treatments, the full effect can continue to develop and improve over the course of a few weeks.

Swelling and mild bruising can last up to a week, depending on how your body reacts to the treatment and how many doses are injected. After treatment, you can resume your regular activities, but you should avoid exercise for 24 hours. You should give yourself two weeks before any event or vacation.
