Hey, it’s Dr. Scott from Skin Suite Medical Aesthetics, and I really wanted to talk about Botox specifically around the eyes. Crow’s feet are one of the more common things that people notice first when they appreciate the fact that their skin is aging, right? The best way to treat this is essentially Botox!

It’s not just as simple as injecting Botox in crow’s feet and letting the muscles relax. It’s a little more nuanced than that. The muscles underneath are going to start to contract because everything else is relaxed. If you think about it, the muscles around our eyes are all for allowing us to close our eyes. So relaxing these muscles around the crow’s feet, and even if we touch up some of the muscles just below the brow, they’re all relaxed, so what do you think is going to happen? No wrinkles!!
I do let clients know, “Hey, just pay attention. I’m not an over-injector, I’m not an overseller. I just tell you what I know. You make the decision and we kind of collaborate. But if I’m going to inject here in the crow’s feet, just be aware that you may start to notice that you’ll have a little bit more wrinkling underneath the eye. Just keep an eye on it. You don’t necessarily need to treat it if it’s not really bothering you, but just be aware of that.”
So what do we do? We then inject the whole area. Some people will go ahead and just get the entire muscle relaxed so that they have a smoother appearance and more uniform appearance. And that’s a good way to go. But if you’re concerned about crow’s feet, just think about it this way: we can always just treat the crow’s feet, but the better treatment would be to treat the entire muscle.
